As far as weddings are concerned new surprises come up every season. This season is no exception, and the year ahead promises a lot of exciting changes for couples who have decided to walk down the aisle this year. The current trends, as usual focus on wardrobes and trousseaus, with the emphasis on selecting the best dress and jewellery to suit the occasion.

For colour themes, it is black and white that is still in favour, with trends suggesting that tables be done up with draping in stunning white tablecloths, with bunches of white flowers placed at strategic spots. This creates a general sense of softness and romance that are very important at any wedding.  In contrast, dark ebony chairs with matching dark wall features add to the effect, which can be enhanced by brilliant colour light fixtures such as ornate chandeliers, including wall and table settings.

Coming to a more personal affair that has to do with bridal dressing, the usual fine-spun lace sleeves continue to remain a popular trend this season as well. Irrespective of whether it is Guipure, Chantilly, Venise or Schiffli, the choice is unanimously layered organza, preferably strapless with a fine ribbon lace. This trend seems to have caught on as a rage, probably because Kate Middleton popularised it as one of the most preferred and fashionable bridal wear.

Conventionally modest cuts embellished with exquisite lace veils, and ball skirts with well cut bodices, with delicate embroidery will enhance any bride’s features several times. Of course, no wedding can be complete without appropriate jewellery. With an amazing range of diamond, gold, tungsten carbide, diamond encrusted tungsten and gold embossed tungsten range of wedding bands and rings adorning jewellers’ shelves, there is indeed a wide choice that is available for the bride and the groom as well.

The interiors too have been spruced up for the season, with themes changing with the times. Some prefer to line the walls and ceilings with cute paper lanterns, which are inexpensive and add charm to the venue. Creative ideas being unlimited, experimenting on the paper lanterns with embellishments such as pearls and faux jewellery add to the glamour. Placing bird cages at vantage positions too seems to have taken the fancy of a few, what with Angry Birds games and Hunger Games’ mocking jay popularising the trend. The preference is for fancy white or silver cages with cute birds, making bird’s nests as centrepieces in certain venues.
